WOOT.  I am done with my religions paper, and I only have one more final to take tonight.  I'm taking the day off from work so I can hang out with some friends for a few hours.  After tonight, I'm probably going to be working ten and a half hour shifts for the next nine days.  That's ninety-four and a half hours, in about a week.  I've already worked thirty-six hours.  So, taking income tax into account, come Christmas Day I should have about $700.  And I know in the real world that isn't anything at all, but still, that's more money than I've ever had in my entire life.  I'm not a huge fan of money or anything, but I'm still pretty excited.

I could buy a Wii.

God's in his Heaven, All's Right with the World.

I have a job now, working as one of Santa's helpers at the Woodland Hills mall.  I'm making $6.50 an hour.

And Monday I took my Western Civ. final.  Today I have my Federal Gov. one.  Hope that goes okay.
I also have to turn in some papers to my religions professor today.  And I'm not exactly done with those yet.

Anyway, wish me luck.

Peace and love,
Joey.

My first semester of college is almost over now, and I'm a little worried.  I didn't do a paper in Western Civ. which was worth 15% of my grade in there, so as it is I'm going to have to beg for an extra credit assignment of some sort, or I'm only going to be able to make an 80% in there, provided I ace the final.  Also, I have five papers due in Western Religions (not really, I just have to report on two field trips we took, a film we watched in class, and then write an essay on Christianity and Islam, respectively).  No worries in Psychology or Federal Gov., though.  Those classes are a breeze.

I've been reading an awful lot of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga lately, which, so far, is really good.  Right up there with Angel Sanctuary in terms of integrating varied research topics into a compelling story (i.e. Fullmetal Alchemist does for hermeticism, Taoism, the occult, political intrigue and foreign policy what Angel Sanctuary did for angelology, demonology, radicalism, sex and morality).  Anyway, the point is I highly recommend it, whether you've seen the anime or not.  You can find fan-made translations here.

Went up to the library to get a couple of books for my Religion papers, wound up with more than I really needed.  I might see about getting a job up at the coffee shop there.  Oh, and much thanks to Flaugher for giving me a dollar so I could get a cup of chai.

So, I've been keeping a notebook lately, and I'm thinking of posting some of the articles I've written in there up on my Myspace account, which can be found here.  If some of you don't have Myspace, but would like to read these anyway, just let me know and I'll get them posted on here.

Peace and love for ever and for always,
Joey.

I have a few overdue papers, two in religion, one in Western Civ.  But it should be okay.

Got a copy of the Qu'ran from my field trip to the mosque tonight, so I need to read that.  Been meaning to get my hands on one.  Also checked out a couple of books on Norse mythology, so I can study that.

And, good news, I can go back to my church again!
The guy I was avoiding there has now moved to Texas.

But he sent me an e-mail requesting that I send him his novel "with comments, please."  Which means I still have to read it (damn).  BUT! no worries of embarrassing encounters.  Hooray.

Love and peace, forever and for always
Joey.

Saturday was a very good day.  I got to see Kiki's Delivery Service for the first time.  I'd been meaning to see it, and I was not dissapointed.  I'm going to put it on my Christmas list now.

After the movie was over, I went outside.  The weather was gorgeous.
Sky was blue, sun was warm, and there was just enough wind...

I spread out my arms and took a few trial skips around the driveway.  Once I was sure I was ready, I walked back up to the garage door.  Crouched low, stretched my arms way back.  I remembered my breathing exercises from yoga class: keep it slow and even, inhale through the nose, feel it cold against your nostrils, filling up your lungs, then (pah!) exhale through your mouth, caving in your chest, expelling everything.  In and out, over and over again, until you no longer identify with the person doing the breathing, but become the breath itself.  Then I stretch out my leg, resting my hand upon the knee.  Bouncing on it, once, twice, thrice.  Then I push off, and I'm running, faster and faster, feeling my feet warm and stony against the pavement.  I throw up my arms, then flap! I'm off.  And I'm flying...

Sigh.  I wish.

Anyway, so, having my hopes of flight dashed once again by a skinned up knee, I go inside and decide to call up some people on the telephone.  I can't get a hold of anyone, so I start calling up libaries.  None of them have the book that I want, except for Tulsa central, which is way the hell up there.  So I call Barnes n' Nobles, and then I ask my dad if I can have $20, and my mom if I can have a lift.  So, now I finally have House of Leaves.

But then I get home, and I realize I'm in no mood for reading.  So I go back to the telephone, call up Stefani and ask if she wants to hang out.  She says she has a bunch of other stuff going on that night, but asks if I would mind watching her and her friend Anthony's puppies.  Well, I agree to, so she comes over with the dogs.  And they're cute as anything, so I don't mind.  Sissy, my little sister's dog, got loose somehow (not because we took her out of her pen when the back gate was open, oh no), so we had to catch her.  A little after that, Stefani left, and I went back to  wondering what I'm going to do with the rest of the afternoon, I'm so bored.  I turn on the tv, search around until I find The Fifth Element, because I've never really seen past the bit where the guy chokes on the cherry in his office.  And then somebody calls my name, and I look up at the door, and Stefani's back.  She asks if I want to come hang out with them, and I'd completely forgot that Michael had already invited me to watch horror movies with these kids.

So, Stef had to leave early because her mum called, but the rest of us stayed up watching Black Christmas and  Rosemary's Baby, debating over whether Satan's baby needs a bullet to the head, or just a little TLC, betting on Nickolodeon's GUTS, and just generally shooting the shit.  Brock drove me home, so props to him, and to Stef for driving me up there.  And to Michael, for hosting the whole shindig, and for snacks.  Sarah didn't do SHIT.  (Ha ha, I'm just kidding if she reads this.  She's a good kid, demonic prejudices aside).

Sunday was mostly spent watching the all-day marathon of House, M.D., on USA Network, except when Stef and Anthony came over to pick up their dogs, and we stayed out back and played with them for a minute or two.

After ten hours of House (well spent!), I finally crashed for the night.

Now I need to go study for my Federal Government midterm, which is today (oh boy).

Love and peace,
Joey.
